As an EV driver, I often hesitate to drive my electric vehicle to the airport, especially if I need to park it for a day or two. The problem? Airports primarily offer 22 kW fast chargers or DC fast chargers. While the 22 kW chargers can fully charge my car in under 4-5 hours, leaving it idle for the remainder of my trip incurs fines and prevents others from using the charger. Additionally, the cost of using these chargers is higher. This blog post was inspired by another article I wrote about Airport EV charging here.

I did a little bit of digging if anyone else felt the same way and came across these posts on the EV groups I am part of.

a lot of times people end up plugging into fast DC chargers as they have no option and end up leaving the car there. Most of the other examples have users having to stop over or wait for fast DC chargers to charge their car before they can leave the airport.

What we truly need are slow chargers—just a power socket to plug in my 3-pin granny charger would suffice. This would allow my car to charge slowly over a couple of days without hogging a fast charger or incurring fines.
